Larian Studios Reveal a Fresh Divinity, Labeling it Their Biggest RPG to Date
The speculation about The Game Awards was significant, notably after presenter Geoff Keighley shared a mysterious image of a desert monolith. The secret has been revealed. Larian Studios is creating a fresh Divinity game.
Announced as Divinity, the game was presented with a daring trailer packed with striking imagery, from a burning man to an orgy and the literal unleashing of hell.
A Different Direction
Anyone expecting Divinity Original Sin 3, this is not that. The studio clarified that a follow-up to its beloved RPGs is not currently in development.
Nevertheless, the developer referred to this new Divinity as a next chapter of the main series. This distinction implies that the team could be designing a more action-oriented experience rather than another tactical title. At this moment, we can only guess, as only a announcement clip is available.
A Pillar of Modern RPGs
The Divinity series is widely praised and arguably it kicked off the recent resurgence of complex computer role-playing games. These games are celebrated for rich lore, choice-driven narratives, and deep class systems—traits that later were perfected in games like Baldur's Gate 3.
While its world is familiar fare, what truly sets Divinity apart is the remarkable agency granted to the player.
Where many modern RPGs have simplified options, Divinity is brimming with unique possibilities you can achieve by choosing a distinct build with a personal story.
The series is also wonderfully permissive, enabling players to experiment throughout the entire experience. Virtually all objectives can be approached in a variety of manners, often in lateral fashion.
- You might solve a puzzle because you heeded something a non-human character said.
- Or, you could bypass a challenge by moving environmental hazards in a clever way.
More to Come
It is these creative systems that allow people to declare games like Divinity Original Sin 2 as a top-tier role-playing games ever made. Now, players can get ready for a new entry in this legendary franchise.
