An individual who laced sweets with tranquilliser and gave them to minors at a summer program in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual crimes against two young males who were nine and ten years old.

The accused was detained after eight children and a grown-up experienced illness at Stathern Lodge in the summer month.

The elderly man, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, admitted guilt to a multiple criminal counts when he stood at the judicial center on the end of the week.

Nevertheless, he refused to admit one of the sexual offences he was charged with, which was concerning a nine-year-old boy.

Ruben was remanded in custody ahead of a subsequent court date on 28 November.

'Sweet game'

The legal representative, presenting evidence, detailed the criminal behavior to the judicial body.

She stated his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were staying at a summer program which he operated.

Ruben conducted a "sweet game" with the minors, the prosecutor explained, in which he would go into the children's bedrooms when they were getting ready for bed and tell them to ingest treats "as quickly as they can".

She informed the proceedings Ruben had played this game with the children "for many years", and minors had earlier experienced illness the next day.

She said Ruben had been able to explain this over a long period as the children being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his family member had worries in recently.

The legal representative added: "This year his stepchild had suspicions about the situation, justifiably.

"They chose" to investigate in the man's possessions."

Mrs Prior KC said materials including infant oil, petroleum jelly and medical needles were found, and his stepson alerted the law enforcement about his worries.

She said the defendant proceeded to engage in the "sweet game" with six children that time - that Saturday - and they were all ill the next day.

"Law enforcement" had not responded by that point," she continued.

The regulatory agency, the investigative body, earlier informed that it was investigating the police response of the incident.

Mrs Prior said the children were unable to walk properly due to being ill, so the family member called the law enforcement once more.

She explained the defendant then played the "treat game" in a space of five children.
